‘Several’ of London’s most famous restaurants planned for Dubai

High-end restaurant group D&D London, who have over 30 venues across the world, are currently looking for potential new sites in Dubai, according to The Times.

One of the potential new openings in the city could be a branch of Quaglino’s, which is one of London’s most famous restaurants – the European style brasserie is so notorious it got a mention in TV show Absolutely Fabulous when Patsy suggested “Lunch at Quag’s, sweetie?”

But if ‘Quag’s’ is on the cards, then it seems that multiple high-end restaurants will follow.

“If we do go to Dubai, we wouldn’t have just one restaurant,” Des Gunewardena, chairman and chief executive at D&D London told The Times. “You need the scale to make it worthwhile, so if we do decide to do something we will try to do several restaurants.”

The group also own famous London restaurants such as The Royal Exchange, Kensington Place and Blue bird. They also own venues like Guastavinos in New York and Alcazar in Paris.

According to the article, the company is also looking to develop further sites in the UK, although the $147 million public offering was put on hold at the end of last year.
