Ramadan Kareem for when it arrives! This week there are lots of ways to embrace the Holy Month, with Iftars across the city. Dubai Sports World is back again with plenty of air-conditioned fun, while those who are into history should check out the Hareem Al Sultan exhibition at City Walk.

#ThisIsNotABuffet Iftar at Alserkal Avenue
This pop-up Iftar is taking place every night throughout Ramadan, in a specially designed warehouse in The Yard. Embracing the Ramadan spirit of giving, 5 percent of the revenue will be donated to charity. It’s a community focused event, with themed board game nights and traditional Middle Eastern music.

Held in collaboration with the fashion designer Eman Al Flamarzi, it will feature stalls from more than 70 fashion vendors specialising in Arabic dress as well as Ramadan items. Cinema – Maggie’s Plan (15)
Having moved from indie character studies (Greenberg) to big-budget comedies (Arthur),Greta Gerwig has sidestepped megastardom and retreated back to her indie roots. In this comedy, she plays a young New Yorker who wants out from her marriage to an older man (Ethan Hawke) and hatches a “plan” to get him back with his ex-wife. As always, Gerwig is effortlessly believable as a hipster-ish metropolitan not as in control of her life as she thinks.
In cinemas from June 2
