When we think of summer in the UAE, we think of bright sunshine, steamed up sunglasses and plenty of air con. Rain and hail stones aren’t usually part of the picture. However, this is exactly the kind of weather that eastern parts of the UAE saw on Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), some areas of the country could see rain until Tuesday.

Heavy rain and hail fell in areas of Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah, there were showers over Hatta, Masfoot and Muziara. This was accompanied by a drop in temperature and strong winds.

The weather forcast from NCMS for today reads: “Hot weather in general & hazy at times over some areas , becoming partly cloudy, with a probability of some convective clouds by afternoon over the eastern and the southern areas, may associated with rainfall. Light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times during cloud activity. Sea will be slight to moderate in Arabian Gulf & Oman Sea. The relative humidity will increase over some western coastal areas.”

Similar weather is expected until Wednesday, with possible rain in the likes of Al Ain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. It looks like Dubai will stay hot and sunny, with temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius.
