There was a small earthquake in the UAE today!
You probably just got on with your day without noticing a thing… not even a tremble. But according to The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), a very small earthquake was recorded near the Oman and UAE border on Monday morning.
“How small is small?” we hear you ask. It measured at 2.6 on the Richter scale, which goes from one to 10. Anything from four and below is considered small and an earthquake isn’t classed as major unless it’s a seven or above. It was recorded at 7.23am in the north of Dibba Al Fujairah.

NCMS have not received any calls about people feeling the earthquake, which suggests that it was too small to be felt in built up areas. Small tremors like this are very common and no cause for concern.
