New walkway between Ibn Battuta Mall and Dubai Metro opens
Metro users rejoice – a new link has opened between Ibn Battuta Mall and the Dubai Metro station. This now makes it extremely easy for people to access the mall from public transport.
The two-storey, 210 metre walkway means that you can get to Ibn Battuta Mall directly from the Ibn Battuta Dubai Metro station. The walkway mirrors the architectural design of the mall, and also features 90 shops and dining options that will be opening later this year.
Ali Rashid Lootah, Nakheel Chairman, said: “With more than 20 million visitors a year, Ibn Battuta Mall is already one of Dubai’s ‘must-see’ destinations. The Metro link is a natural progression for Ibn Battuta that will inspire more visitors to discover its stunning architecture, intriguing history and retail offering – and encourage those who would normally drive to use public transport instead.”
The Mall-Metro walkway is a big part of the ongoing 300.000 sq ft Ibn Battuta expansion. Sixty new shops opened in May this year, while the mall’s first hotel – a 372-room Premier Inn – will open in October.
The new mall connection pales in comparison to a similar one between Dubai Mall and the Dubai Mall Metro station, which is a staggering 820 metres long.
