Jumeirah Central, a 'model future city,' unveiled by HH Sheikh Mohammed
Dubai is set to become home to another impressive project. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai tweeted on Saturday that Jumeirah Central, a “model future city in Dubai,” is in the works and will extend over 47 million square feet.
Health and the environment are key to this integrated model community Sheikh Mohammed further tweeted, so, as such, sustainable transport will be incorporated into the plans. The district will be connected by a comprehensive cycling network, too.
“The city will house 35,000 people and support 100 million visitors. With 37 parks and open spaces, it is a balanced, integrated community,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

The Dubai Media Office gave further details through its Twitter account, explaining how the project conceptualises Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of future cities. It will also be home to smart infrastructure, multi-modal transport, green transport options and cable cars.
Jumeirah Central will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road, although the specific location was not given.
Commenting on the announcement in a press statement published on The Dubai Media Office’s website, Sheikh Mohammed said: “As our vision for future cities evolves, Dubai will continue to set the benchmark for city development across the globe. Jumeriah Central is a clear milestone in our journey towards building the city of the future and the creation of engaged and happy communities. We will not stop investing in our economy, and these projects are tools to expedite that journey of growth. We are confident in the strength of our economy and are optimistic for the future of our nation. To that end, our vision will continuously evolve and expand.”
