Who would have thought that a simple vegetable could cause such excitement? As part of DXB Cucumber Day on May 17, you’ll be able to buy a drink in 35 bars and restaurants in Dubai by simply handing over a cucumber to a member of the staff.

And there's more good news. Spinney's is helping to reduce food waste by offering customers cut-price "wonky cucumbers". Prices will start at just AED2.75.

If you're thinking about packing a bag full of cucumbers, then chill. It's one cucumber per person (but there's nothing stopping you going on a bar crawl).

The initiative is by a British drinks brand, that will offer a specially mixed beverage. Find out more on the official Facebook page.
