GPP Photo exhibition celebrates Nepal
Nepal has been in the headlines for the worst possible reasons in the last two weeks. The devastating, 7.8-magnituda earthquake that struck the Himalayan kingdom destroyed homes, villages, communities and architectural treasures, as well as leaving a death toll in the thousands.
It struck just as the second of two photography tour groups, led by Gulf Photo Plus instructor Tonya Coulson, was preparing to leave Kathmandu, the country's capital. The two local Nepalese guides that had assisted the group during their tour, Thakur Kanal and Guru Prasad Tripathee, remained with the party, ensuring they had sufficient food, water and shelter – despite their own obvious worries and responsibilities.
In tribute to both the guides and the country, one of the most beautiful in the world, GPP's space in Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz, is hosting a special week-long exhibition to showcase the best works from the tours.
Opening night: May 6, from 7pm
