Ski Dubai nominated for the World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort title
There are quite a lot of indoor ski slopes around the world – let’s be honest, most of them are awful. One short, wet slope with a tiny button lift that’s full of kids message around on a school trip.
Then there’s the other end of the scale. There are indoor ski areas that are more like resorts, and we’ve just had confirmation (as if we needed it) that Ski Dubai is up there with the best. The snow park has been nominated for the title of World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort 2017 at the World Ski Awards.
Come on, it’s 22,500 square metres of snow inside a shopping centre. It’s even got a café at the top of the hill (the aptly named Avalanche Café) to give you that ‘apres ski’ vibe. Don’t even get us started on how good the Penguin Encounter is… yes, it’s probably made for children, but it’s awesome.
It’s got stiff competition from Alpincenter Bottrop in Germany, Madrid SnowZone in Spain, Snej in Russia, Snow Factor in Scotland, Snowplanet in New Zealand and SnowWorld Landgraaf in the Netherlands. You’ll notice that Ski Dubai is the only indoor ski resort in the Middle East on the nominee list.
