3 reasons why Andy Warhol fans need to check out Letters to Andy Warhol exhibition
If there’s one thing Andy Warhol fans can look forward to this month, it is the ‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ exhibition at Dubai Design District.
Pop in to the design community anytime between December 8 and 16 to check out a collection of the legend’s work brought to the city courtesy of Cadillac and The Andy Warhol Museum.
Here are three reasons why the “Letters to Andy Warhol” exhibition should be on your to-do list this weekend.
1. The exhibition will showcase five rarely seen letters
You will get the chance to read the letters that famed icons like Mick Jagger, Yves Saint Laurent and more have sent to the legend over the years. What’s more is that you will also get to read letters sent to him by organizations like the Museum of Modern Art. This is a once in a life time opportunity for Warhol fans to get a closer look at rarely seen pieces of the man responsible for revolutionizing the world’s art scene.
2. The letters are paired with artwork
The roster of international artists celebrating Warhol’s legacy through imaginative pieces includes Aimee Mullins, Nick Rhodes, Brian Atwood, Derek Blasberg, David LaChapelle, Francesco Clemente, J.J. Martin, Chiara Clemente, Sienna Miller, Zac Posen and Sean Lennon. In Warhol’s vast body of work, cars are perhaps the least known or examined subjects. But this exhibition will showcase fiver artworks from different periods in Warhol’s career that feature Cadillac. Each one of the pieces underscores Warhol’s love of iconic American brands and his pursuit to capture a portrait of America. Expect to see recurring themes such as the trials and tribulations of fame as well as the blurred lines between art and commerce.
3. It is the last stop of the global exhibition
This nine-day exhibit will be the only chance for Warhol’s fans to see the artwork in Dubai before it returns to the US. So, all you art lovers don’t miss this opportunity and make your way to Dubai Design District before Saturday, December 16.
