Dubai taxis to get CCTV cameras
Cabs in Dubai will all have surveillance cameras fitted to keep an eye on taxi drivers.
With 6,500 cameras attached to cabs already, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) intends to branch these out to its entire fleet.
“The System aims to ensure the compliance of taxi drivers with the rules and principles of professional and moral conducts. It even motivates them to observe optimal attitudes towards users of the taxi service,” explained Adel Shakri, Director of Transportations Systems, at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.
He added: “The footage of these cameras can be retrieved in case of any violations reported during the taxi trips to eliminate any complaints from service beneficiaries.”
