Some may say that Dubai is an expensive city, but there are plenty of bargains to be had. Those in the know can go out every night of the week and never pay full price on food or drink. Luckily, we’ve found one of those people. Our F&B ShortLister, Paul Medawar from LUCIDubai, makes it his business to know every deal the city has to offer. Here, he rounds up his favourites for the week ahead.

China Grill, The Westin – Dine & Stay
Am I the only one who finds it hard to leave China Grill? It’s a cultivated experience right from the moment that you arrive, with lounge-restaurant atmosphere and plenty of themed nights. If I was to tell you that they’re doing a AED799 set menu for two people, you might be interested.  If I told you that they’re going to nurse you through the inevitable separation process by putting you up in The Westin for the night, for free, maybe you’d be more willing to deal with the inevitable tough goodbyes.

Black Lion, The H Hotel – Launch Offer
Offers can be great for lots of different reasons, but one of my favourites is when they act as a motivational force to get me out exploring. The Black Lion is Reforms transatlantic cousin, and opened on the July 18 in the H Hotel, offering 50 percent off food for the first two weeks. There it is, the excuse you needed to be one of the pioneers to discover a new opening.

We all know that in this city, if you try, you can double up on ladies nights, enjoying offers at multiple venues. But what if you don’t want to be rushing from one place to the next? What if you just want the universe to line up a couple of offers up and make life easy? Well Media One has heard your wish and is continuing its Gossip Ladies Night. Start your night with two free drinks in Z:ONE between 6pm and 9pm, including spot prizes and lucky draws. Solo Bistronomia, Raffles Hotel – Genius Loci & Solo Aperitivo (Tuesday & Saturday)
My final recommendations are two separate offers on two separate nights, but at the same venue. Genius Loci runs on Tuesdays after 6pm, and they’re offering a five cheese and house grape, selected by their expert sommelier, for AED120. Alternatively Solo Aperitivo means that your Saturday evening drinks will be complimented by free canapés. Offers or not, it’s sounding like Solo Bistronomia should definitely be on your list.
