Brad Pitt to film in UAE next month
As the biggest Lothario of the 21st century (yes, we said it) Brad Pitt will no doubt cause quite a stir when he arrives in the UAE next month. He’s here to film his latest movie War Machine, which is based on Michael Hastings' novel The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan.
Why are they filming a story like that in the UAE? Good question. Producers picked the Abu Dhabi as the perfect Afghanistan desert set, although we don’t know how much of the movie will be filmed here.
So what’s the film about? You may remember Michael Hastings as the journalist who was fired for writing a scathing article about the U.S forces in Rolling Stone. Basically his book, The Operators, picks up from where the article left off.
Ok, and where did it leave off? General Stanley McChrystal, the commanding general of international and U.S forces in Afghanistan, was known as a “rock star” who liked to party with his staff. The story continues with a first hand account of the war, from patrols to ridiculous lad banter and depravity.
So it’s quite a serious movie? Nope. This is a satirical “behind the scenes” look at how the war was handled. Brad Pitt plays a four-star Military General who is partnered with McChrystal… It’s kind of a light hearted character assassination.
