Martin Solveig and Sander van Doorn headline Sensation Dubai

Anticipation has been building over Sensation Dubai for the past few months, and ShortList Dubai can reveal the line-up before any other website. Parisian DJ and chart-dominator Martin Solveig will headline the Ocean of White, alongside EDM mastermind Sander van Doorn.

Also on the bill is Nicky Romero’s protégé, Quintino, as well as Belgian-born ‘CloudBreaker’ Yves V, Dutch duo East & Young and Sensation Dubai resident, Mr White.

Solveig is known for being passionate about his visual displays, making him a standout choice for Sensation, which is regarded as one of the world’s most aesthetically stunning dance events. The Dubai instalment, being held at Meydan on Friday October 30, is the only outdoor Sensation on the globe. This year’s theme, ‘ocean of white’, will include 15,000 revellers, acrobats, and the all-important light show.

An event of this magnitude needs some floor-fillers and, with two huge hits doing the rounds on international radio, Solveig has the goods. The Frenchman’s massive summer anthem ‘Intoxicated’ has racked up over 35 million YouTube views since its release in January – it’s worth watching if only for the moment he slides in on a pole – and ‘+1’ is set for similar notoriety. The quirky DJ is most famous for his 2012 track ‘Hello’ and has also produced music for Madonna. Since then he’s built a reputation as one of the top billers on the festival circuit, mainly due to his big tunes and equally big personality.

Joining Solveig in the sandpit is Dutch DJ and producer Sander van Doorn, which will do doubt please hardened dance music fans. Following a string of residencies in Ibiza, van Doorn won 2008’s Best Breakthrough DJ, beating the likes of Calvin Harris. He’s gone on to become a remix heavyweight, re-working tracks for the likes of Sia and Swedish House Mafia, as well as producing his own hit singles. A decade defining artist, van Doorn is a regular at Ultra Miami and recently had his own stage at Tomorrowland, marking his crossover from cult fan base to global star.

Also flying the flag for the Netherlands will be fellow Dutch DJ/producer Quintino, who found fame after being spotted by Nicky Romero at 18. Although still an up-and-comer, he’s already collaborated with household names such as Tiesto and Afrojack, and Dubai is just one of the stops on the estimated 250 gigs he’s playing around the world this year.

Another rising name, Yves V, is set to bring his blend of electro and progressive house to the decks. Already a big deal on the scene in Europe, his singles have charted in the Netherlands and France, and he made his debut in DJ Mag’s top 100 this year at #55. When he’s not entertaining crowds in the world’s top nightclubs, you’ll find him at festivals like Mysteryland and Tomorrowland, where he has a residency.

It’s a European takeover, with Dutch duo East & Yong also on the line-up. You may be familiar with their floor-filling remix of John Legend’s ‘All of Me’, which they will almost certainly pull out at Meydan. And it wouldn’t be Sensation without the event’s pale-faced resident, Mr White, who rounds off the list. He’s been travelling the world with Sensation for years, almost becoming as notorious as the DJs he opens for.

It’s set to be a big one… Get the Vanish on those whites, and we’ll see you there.
