5 things to know about new Bond girl Stephanie Sigman

Are we really getting excited about Bond girls in 2015? Are we even still using the term “Bond girl”? Well, in this case, yes. The latest addition to the cast of the new 007 outing Spectre is Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman, whose on-screen appeal is considerably more than skin deep.

The 28-year-old stars opposite Daniel Craig after receiving rave reviews in two Oscar nominated films, 2011’s Miss Bala and 2013’s Pioneer.

Interestingly, at least to us, the first ever Bond girl was Mexican: Linda Christian played Valerie Mathis in a TV adaptation of Casino Royale which aired in the 1950s.

If you don’t know a great deal about Ms Sigman, here are five essential facts:

1.  She first came to the attention of English-language audiences in TV series The Bridge, in which she played Eva.

2. She made her film debut in 2010 movie Rio De Oro – or River of Gold – which was set during the US invasion of Mexico in the 1850s.

3. Her father, Lee Sigman, worked as a talent scout for the New York Yankees.

4. Her Instagram account is @sigmanstephanie

5. She appeared in a video for The Arctic Monkeys’ song ‘Snap Out Of It.’ It might be best if you, erm, Google it.

Spectre is due in cinemas in November, 2015.
