World’s tallest residential tower to open in Dubai this year

There have been quite a few towers in Dubai that have gained, and then lost, the title of world’s tallest residential tower. However, the much-awaited Marina 101, which is currently being built in Dubai Marina, is set to be a whopping 427 metres high, making it considerably bigger than the skyscrapers around it.

According to architect firm National Engineering Bureau (NEB), the $355 million project is set to open at the end of 2016. Possibly the most exciting thing about the tower, aside from the epic views from its penthouses, will be the Hard Rock Hotel, which will operate on the first 33 floors, as well as the 101st floor which will be the Hard Rock Café & Lounge.

“Finishing touches to the residences will be completed soon. Construction works on the hotel is over, only the interior design and finishing touches to the hotel is left,” Managing director Jamil Jadallah told Arabian Business.

The project was originally scheduled for completion in 2012, however, delays have pushed it back multiple times. The news that construction is finished, and now it’s only interior design and fittings left, will no doubt please Hard Rock fans. The 5-star hotel will have 281 rooms and occupy a large chunk of the tower.

Floors 34 to 100 will mostly be made up of residential apartments, including one beds, two beds, three beds and duplex penthouses. There will also be five restaurants… and the all-important Hard Rock merchandise store, of course.
