Comptoir 102
This Jumeirah favourite offers a range of healthy, vegan choices for those of you looking to repent for your calorific sins. They source their ingredients from local organic farms, so the menu changes daily according to what is seasonal. Expect everything from paninis through to salads and smoothies. We recommend the avocado crostini – toasted bread topped with a macadamia sauce, alfalfa sprouts, guacamole and cucumber slices. Yes, it’s healthy. Yes, it’s delicious. They also offer sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and raw food options.

One Café
The newly reopened One Café bills itself as Dubai’s finest plant-based eatery. Their menu is full of organic juices, smoothies, fair trade coffees and teas, healthy soups, stews and raw vegan platters. Their vegan selection is extensive – the walnut tartlets with sun-dried tomatoes and tomato salsa are particular popular. Vegans will also be happy to know that not only do they offer a selection of raw vegan desserts but they also serve raw ice cream, which can be quite difficult to find in Dubai. Add to this a very bohemian “secret” garden dining area and what you have is the perfect place for a chilled out weekend lunch.

Be Super Natural Kitchen
Tucked away inside Galaries Lafayette in Dubai Mall, Be Super Natural Kitchen is something of a hidden gem known only by the vegan/health food crowd. Their kitchen is free of meat, dairy, gluten, sugar and chemicals, and everything served is made from scratch. Some of their popular vegan dishes include coconut curried vegetables and “shrooms and slaw” – marinated portobello mushroom, creamy red cabbage slaw with homemade sauerkraut and micro greens. Their popular smoothie Hulk contains all sorts of green goodies including apple, spirulina and spinach, and is a great choice for those of you looking for a quick lunch of the liquid variety.

Govinda’s
Indian food is famed for being veggie friendly, and this bright spot in Jumeirah has a menu full of vegetarian and vegan dishes – no meat allowed. They have a variety of dal dishes, as well as vegan thali options. Govinda’s also has an oil-free section on their menu, which is quite an interesting deviation from your typical Indian fare – perfect for those of you who are watching the waistline but are hankering for some tikka masala. For something completely different, try the quinoa biryani.
