3 brunches to try in Dubai this weekend
La Guinguette Friday Brunch
“Come up and play” is the long-standing invitation at La Guinguette Friday brunch at the Treehouse Lounge, the indoor-outdoor space at Taj Dubai in Business Bay. In September, though, you can sample their sectionalised menu of Mediterranean flavours in the evening. “In the Basket” offers the likes of ceviche and smoked garlic hummus, while avocado skewers with anticucho glaze star in the “On the Grill” portion. “Á La Carte” dishes include scallop gratin, short-rib burgers and salmon tartare with wasabi. Get there early. From AED295 (soft drinks).

Feed Me Brunch
A new brunch is on the scene, and this one offers something a little different to the standard buffet set-up. W Dubai’s Friday brunch is full of miniature single-serving dishes, such as poached eggs with caviar, beetroot risotto and scallops covered in a creamy sauce. It’s Mediterranean, so expect lots of fresh food. The dessert room also looks like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. From AED395.

Authentically American Saturday Brunch
American food does seem uniquely suited to weekends, especially when there is nothing on the agenda other than sitting around eating with friends and family – and the success of several new US-style eateries does underline the point. Latitude in Jumeirah Beach Hotel has caught this welcome bug with its American-themed Saturday brunch, which has goodies such as stuffed jalapenos, beef brisket, chicken wings, burgers, smoked sliders and sweet potato chips. The desserts are the calorific, guilt-inducing indulgence you’d expect, too. Bring a group and dive in. From AED275.
