4 parties in Dubai this week

A self-described “jack of all trades”, British DJ Dean Curtis is an open-format DJ whose music tastes span everything from classic rockers Led Zeppelin all the way up to pop princess Rihanna – leading to sets that mash up genres, beats and musical decades. It’s a style that has been sought out by a range of venues in Dubai, including Republique, Nasimi Beach, N’Dulge and parties for clients as prestigious as Dior and Michael Kors. He is also the official Color Run DJ. Now ensconced as a resident at Stereo Arcade in the Doubletree by Hilton, he is lending his extensive collection to their popular Thursday nights.

Here, he tells us which parties we should be heading to this week.

Jazz@Pizza Express
Love the Mondays down at Pizza Express. The live band down there, Jess and Phil, are awesome. It’s also two-for-one night on the food, so extra reason to head down.
When: Monday, September 26
Where: Movenpick Hotel, Cluster A, Jumeirah Lakes Towers

Stereo Arcade
I get down there for Happy Hour on Tuesdays, 6pm-8pm. The live band is Jet Lag who, in their words, play “acoustic, reggae and hip-hop mashed up with a mortar and pestle”.
When: Tuesday, September 20
Where: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Jumeirah Beach Residences

Saffron brunch
On Fridays, I sometimes DJ down at this legendary brunch at Saffron in the Atlantis, but even if I’m not behind the decks, I usually join the crowd for a bit of fun. Can’t seem to stay away!
When: Friday, September 23
Where: Atlantis The Palm

Red Hot & Chilli
On Saturdays, I usually go to this bar in Barsha and listen to rock tunes by Sound City. They’re pretty established on the Dubai circuit and have a great set. It’s always a good time in there.
When: Saturday, September 24
Where: Donatello Hotel, Barsha
