These top spots in Dubai are all about that jazz
Fans of The Fast Show will surely list John Thompson’s ‘Louis Balfour’ as one of their most memorable and mimicable characters. But what his pudding-bowl haircut and choice of variously talentless guest acts belied was the fact jazz, smooth or otherwise, is a genre that gave us much of the great music we’re privileged to enjoy today. With their deliberately dimly-lit and smoky environs, jazz clubs are still the coolest of hangouts here in Dubai. Nice.
A recent convert to its stylings, Bahri Bar offers two live music nights a week, both of them jazz. Wednesdays and Saturdays are when you can toe-tap to some of the best local talent while enjoying some superb sea views.

The city’s original jazz and blues bar, this Novotel joint has always oozed ‘cool’. With nearly 16 years of experience under its belt, Blue Bar is a true heavyweight of the scene, providing live acts four nights a week and seriously good vibes in the meantime.

It’s moniker is a bit of a giveaway to the soundtrack but for jazz fans, a night out here is certainly worth their dough. Top acts, top food and two brunches a week topping it off, we’re big fans of this place.

Nola Social House & Eatery
Perhaps they should rename JLT Jazz-Loving Towers as this New Orleans-inspired hangout brings the good vibes most nights of the week. Grab a table by the stage and you’ll feel like you’re enjoying a private gig. Let the good times roll.

The Green Room
Purpose-built to celebrate this most stylish of sounds, The Green Room is a jazz fan’s dream. Hip, yet upretentious, you’ll rarely feel as cool as when you’re sipping on a mixed drink here. Citywalk? Citysaunter, surely?
