Want to catch the match? There’s hardly a sport this bar doesn’t show

How many bars in Dubai are so devoted to showing sport that they install their own turnstile?

Enter Bur Dubai institution Barrels, which recently did just that as part of renovations to the beloved bar. You don’t need to squeeze through said turnstile to access the main bar, but rather.

The Corner, a small room with stadium-like seating facing a large TV. It’s just another nifty touch in bar that has also introduced menus designed to look like match day programmes – albeit lacking a little in bar snacks, and leaning slightly too much on the main meals (that said, kudos for the curry options).

There’s hardly a square metre untouched by glowing telly, with every imaginable sport being shown. Whether you want to watch Steph Curry lead the embattled Warriors through the remainder of the 2019 NBA season or Chelsea’s Kepa take club management into his own hands, do it here and you’ll be among fellow sport fans, served by friendly staff.

Barrels also has a stack of offers on any given day, from half-price pints to food and drink deals. Perhaps most importantly, there’s a good range of brews on draught, though grape drinkers will find better choice elsewhere in the building (also home to live music spot Bar Baar and the perenially popular Miss Wáng).

Barrels shoots for that proper sports bar setting – and it scores.
