Reviewed: Ribs & Brews
Decked out in swanky leather seats, dark woods and industrial fixtures, Ribs & Brews is a classic American bar and restaurant done posh.
Formerly Cook Hall, there’s now a distinct focus on the venue’s new namesake, so while you’re watching the match or playing a game of pool upstairs, get ready to sink your teeth into some Fred Flintstone-worthy ribs.
If you’re in the Al Habtoor City area, this is the best bar you’ll find in the vicinity (yes, there are a few worthy rivals – Ribs pips them to the post), thanks to its smart setting and brilliant bar snacks.
Service is fairly consistently maddening in its absence, but once you’ve got a drink and a plate of spicy pulled veal nachos or Buffalo chicken wings, you’ll hardly notice. Until you, erm, need another drink.
While there’s a decent range of hops on offer, both by bottle and on draught, prices can be a little steep, with pints coming in between AED50 and AED65. Grape drinkers fare slightly better, with Italian options starting from AED45.
There may be cheaper drinks available elsewhere in the Al Habtoor City complex, but this is an infinitely more enjoyable place to spend time. Don’t mind if we yabba-dabba do.
