New sports bar opens in Dubai’s JBR

In need of a new watering hole in the JBR area? You’re in luck – hot on the heels of Amsterdam Hub’s departure, a brand-new sports bar has sprung up in its place.

Decked out in dark woods and featuring a stage for live music, in addition to an array of pool tables and dart boards, newcomer Quench describes itself as “the ultimate pub and sports lounge”. (We’ll be delivering our own verdict shortly… All in the name of comprehensive reporting, of course.)

There are a whole load of offers and promotions on food and drinks throughout the week to time your visit around, including a daily happy hour from 4pm until 8pm, with drinks priced from a wallet-friendly AED20, plus a Monday ladies’ night from 8pm through to midnight, with free short measures, grape and mixed drinks.

Tuesdays feature three hours of unlimited drinks for all between 7pm and 10pm, for a set price of AED220, while Sundays will serve up a traditional British roast dinner for AED125.

Towards the end of the working week, the live music kicks in. Wednesday nights see Carrie Gibson’s Nuva Band hit the stage at 9pm for a night of jazz, while Thursdays see Quench host its very own open mic night, to which all aspiring local musicians and acts are invited. Brave enough…?

If all that singing has got your stomach growling, there’s a menu of burgers, curries, pasta, nachos, sushi (?) and more to scoff your way through.

We’re chalking our cues at the very thought…
