Girders Garden being completely revamped

What’s this? One of our favourite al fresco sports bars is closing down? It’s not all doom and gloom, though, as it’s being replaced by an all-new improved sports bar concept.

JA Ocean View Hotel is bidding farewell to Girders Garden and will launch OFFSIDE, a new Dubai Marina sports bar with the largest indoor screen around, daily deals and activities from foosball to pool.

Opening in the first week of June, the social hangout will offer a range of pub grub, tunes from resident DJ Ngie and special deals to make drinks affordable every night.

No matter what night you go, there’s a deal on. Finish off the weekend with “Super Saturday” football matches and buckets of hops, while those who are keen on potting balls can look forward to Sunday night pool tournaments.

There’s also Monday night madness serving up a two-for-one offer on selected mixed drinks, while Tuesday night will offer those with a sharp aim darts tournaments. On a Wednesday, there are two-for-one offers on selected mixed drinks.

To kick your weekend off in style, guests can look forward to “Thursday Retro Night”  with hits from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s courtesy of DJ Pele, while the ultimate party session will be held every Friday with the Smoking Jack Brunch and Drunch.

The first of those takes place from 12:30pm-3.30pm and is priced AED299 per person, while the night owls can take advantage of the night version from 7pm-10pm. That is also priced AED299 and both feature a selection of signature smokehouse fare.

June is when it’s all going down, as OFFSIDE will be using its massive 200-inch screen, along with eight others, to show all the biggest sporting events.

Expect to see Wimbledon, the Cricket World Cup and the UEFA Nations League finals, plus much more.

As for foodies, you will be able to enjoy foot-long hot dogs, chip butties, beef pies and a big selection of ‘Match Day’ burgers from chicken to Angus Beef, as well as chickpea for the veggies and vegans.

“Offside is going to be a brilliant addition to the JBR/Dubai Marina area,” said Director of food and beverage Mark Stanton.

“A sports bar that shows all kinds of sports, has a menu that showcases the best of both British and American pub grub, and all kinds of cool games to keep our signature lively vibe. Don’t worry, everything that was good about Girders Garden, we’ve kept, and we know our regulars are going to love their new and improved local.”

We’ll keep you posted on the opening times of the bar.

Speaking of retro beats, Nasimi Beach has just announced that’s its holding a free throwback beach party, and it’s completely free to enter.

Our heart breaks for you, Girders Garden, but there’s a new place in town.
