Blur and Florence + The Machine headline Abu Dhabi F1
Last month there were rumours that Britpop group Blur would headline the Abu Dhabi Formula One’s after-race concert, and it turns out the gossip was true. The recently reformed nineties group will be joined by Florence + The Machine and Enrique Iglesias for Yasalam 2015.
Kicking things off on Friday November 27 is Enrique Iglesias, who will bring his best-selling Latin sounds to the first after-race concert. Famous for hits such as "Do You Know" and "Tonight", he’s sold over 137 million albums. But the track everyone will be there to see him perform is, without a doubt, his classic “Hero”... You’re singing it in your head now, aren’t you.
Florence + The Machine bring the massive vocals of Florence Welch on Saturday November 28. With a string of number ones and a fanbase that spans the world, the band are famous for hits such as “Dog Days Are Over” and massive tune “You’ve Got The Love”.
On Sunday November 29 Blur will play the grand finale. Known for their rivalry with fellow Britpop megastars Oasis, the London-based band were at the forefront of English pop rock in the mid-nineties. Songs like ‘Parklife’, ‘Coffee & TV’ and ‘Country House’ have crossed decades, cementing their place in British music history. Although arguably amongst the most famous bands of their decade, Blur’s chart domination didn’t quite follow them into the 2000s, although their 2003 album Think Tank won streams of awards.
The popular Arabic night will take place on Thursday November 26, with acts like DJ Said Mrad, Fares Karam, Aryam and Cheb Khaled taking to the stage.
Race ticket holders will have access to the after-race concerts for the same date as their race ticket. For race tickets call 800 YAS (927), visit www.yasmarinacircuit.com or go to Virgin Megastores and Etihad Airways Shops across the UAE.
