4 parties in Dubai this week

So we are flying through February and feeling good at the prospect of some warmer weather coming our way. With record temperature lows over the last few weeks and snow in the Middle East, I’ve been starting to wonder what I signed up for 10 years ago! I hope you’ve been keeping warm on the city’s dancefloors, and as always there is a lot going on this weekend to defrost those toes of yours.

The weekend is fast approaching and I’m super excited to be bringing back to Audio Tonic the mighty Kolombo this Friday. He’s fresh off the back of his South American tour where he’s been selling out stadiums and he’s a true superstar and charismatic artist who plays outstanding music. I hope you can join me and what seems to be half the city at 360º! Just make sure you come early. There’s also loads going on elsewhere in the city as usual, so check out the roundup and enjoy my tracks of the month plus a catch-up with Dubai’s next record store owner, Shadi Megallaa.

Leaving the clubs for a second, and just to prove us DJs don’t spend our lives in booths above the dancefloor, a quick shout out to Oregano, a restaurant I’ve been frequenting in search of “winter warming” cuisine in these chilly-ish evenings. Home cooked, hearty food made for those cool winter evenings when sitting in your onesie on the sofa with a duvet is just right. Or is that wrong? But yes, I do own a onesie.

Party hard, and stay warm!

Bedouin Tech
Why not try something different? Bedouin Tech is a celebration of the creative in each of us – of music, of art, and of much more in between. It is a unique event by any account; by the community for the community. So dance amongst the dunes and check it out. Search Bedouin Tech on Facebook for more info.
When: February 17-20
Where: Somewhere in the desert!

Purple Disco Machine
Dark, moody, and/or proggy music seems to be flavour of the day (or night) for the more discerning clubbers at the moment, but if you want melodic, chunky, happy and “cool” music you’ll want to check out Purple Disco Machine. The music will be good and the night a lot of fun, trust me.
When: Thursday, February 18
Where: Square, JW Marriott Marquis, Business Bay

Analog Room with Nasrawi
The one night in the city when you feel like you’ve been transported somewhere else. This week hosts local top gun Nasrawi with a five-hour set, and keep an eye on their upcoming events which will host the likes of A Guy Called Gerald, Rahaan and Delano Smith. Expect to hear music you’ve never heard before.
When: Thursday, February 18
Where: Holiday Inn, Al Barsha

Audio Tonic presents Kolombo
A huge booking in Olivier Gregoire AKA Kolombo. He last played in Dubai for Audio Tonic in 2013 and sold out the venue – so arrive early! He’s fresh off the back of his stadium-filling South America tour and ready to recreate the riots. Support from Arcade 82, Jason Dodds and yours truly.
When: Friday, Thursday 19
