Tribeca, Queen Bee Ladies Night
Need a bit of coercion to join the organic social revolution? Just to experience the venue at Tribca should be all the strong-arming you need. Still wanting a bit more? Head down on a Tuesday night from 8pm to 11pm and receive two complimentary glasses of organic wine or house cocktails. Still not convinced? You’re a tough crowd, but how about four complimentary drinks if you join them for dinner.
When: Tuesdays, 9pm to 11pm
Where: JA Ocean View Hotel, JBR,

The Surprise
This is the latest presentation of The Scene Club at Vox, Mall of the Emirates. The Surprise is a Dutch film from Oscar-winning writer and director Mike Van Diem centres around multimillionaire Jacob, who falls in love for the first time in his life with the beautiful Anne. Unfortunately, though, hey both just signed an agreement with a company that will end their lives in a surprising way. Trouble ensues when they wish to get out of the contract. A black comedy, Lobster style. Dutch with English subtitles.
When: Wednesday, September 28, 8pm
Where: Mall of the Emirates,

The Younger Lovers
Everyone’s favourite Irish bar is hosting the Bay Area-based garage punk band, The Younger Lovers this weekend. The band play infectious, high-energy indie-rock with plenty of lo-fi, homemade sensibilities. Think foster the People meshed with early Talking Heads and a dash of Pixies and you’re probably close. Great stuff fora Friday night. Band on at 11pm, tickets on the door at AED100.
When: September 30
Where: McGettigans, JLT,

This is eighth edition of Dubai Sports City’s Bavarian festival and it’s promising to be the best yet. Get your Dirndl’s and Lederhosen’s ready and start preparing for clinking together unnecessarily large glass tankards. Free entry.
When: From September 29
Where: The Dome, Dubai Sports City,

Cinema – The Magnificent Seven (PG)
A remake of a remake? That’s Hollywood for you. So, what can this new version of the sun-soaked 1960 classic (itself a reworking of Japanese movie The Seven Samurai) offer us? Well, a fantastic cast for one – Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke – and a director in Antoine Fuqua with The Equalizer and Southpaw under his belt. The result is a film that does everything right… apart from ever fully engage. Good but not quite great.
