It aims to support local businesses – from farmers to jewellery designers – with markets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that also offer hours of mooching opportunities. Every Wednesday from 2pm-4pm, Ripe will take over Mina Seyahi Amphitheatre with fresh fruit and vegetables as well as stalls from small local businesses.

Lady’s night with Lucy Pink
It’s the usual deal of three complimentary house and selected beverages for the ladies at this bar in the Marina, but the difference is the killer music form DJ Lucy Pink. Nu-disco and funk all night.

Revamp your wardrobe with some pre-loved designer items. Designers include Chanel, Hermes, Chloe, Jimmy Choo and Louboutin, as well as some stylish boutique brands straight from Paris. Benefit Cosmetics will be on-hand with a brow bar, while skincare brand Caudalie will offer the first 500 clients a best-seller product in a So Chic goody bag.
When: October 19-20, 8am-10pm
Where: Nadi Al Quoz – Alserkal Avenue,

Kite Surfing
It’s an extreme sport with its own dangers, but with expert tuition you’ll be flying across the water in no time. In fact, Dukite are so confident in their school, they say you can go from beginner to superstar surfer within 20 hours of lessons. They are on Kite Beach (funny that) and teach everything from how to prepare your kite and stand on the board to reading the wind directions at extreme speeds. Honestly, after one lesson, you’ll be spending the working week dreaming about your next session.

Cinema – Inferno (15)
The latest Dan Brown novel to get the big-screen treatment is hardly a shoo-in for critical acceptance, but there’s no denying that he understands how to spin a decent yarn – however ridiculous the premise. Inferno might lack the religious mystique of The Da Vinci Code, but in the hands of Ron Howard and with Tom Hanks back as Robert Langdon, and a backdrop of Dante’s 14th century poem, this race to save humanity is popcorn-chewing fun. Felicity Jones adds some youthful vigour.
In cinemas from October 13
