Dubai to host its first ever happiness festival
For all those in need of a pick me up – we know that December feels like years away now - we recommend that you keep February 17 free because there’s a new festival in town and it's dedicated to nothing but happiness.
Organized by The Happiness Hub, the one day, open to the public event that takes place at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club will see over 50 health professionals ranging from psychologists to spiritualists to well any field related to boosting your overall state of happiness.
If you’re a bit confused, here’s what the happiness fest is about in their own words: “Our mission is to make happiness more accessible to everyone by redefining the rules when it comes to educating and sharing knowledge. [The aims is] to focus on building a community of like-minded people, who have the common goal of being their best self as an individual, in relationships and at work.”
Right, so here’s how they plan on doing it. There will be a series of special talks and workshops taking place every 20 to 40 minutes that touch on the seven key topics including positive emotion, meaning, accomplishment and relationships. They’re also covering man caves and all things kids related. (Click here to view the full schedule)
Even if the event doesn’t tickle your fancy, we recommend that you go as, according to a review published in Psychological Bulletin in 2012, positive psychological attributes like happiness, optimism and life satisfaction have been linked to better physical health, for example lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease. Now that we’ve convinced you to go, you need to register here.
The festival comes roughly a year after the UAE announced that H.E. Ohood Al Roumi would be the region’s first ever Minister of Happiness. Her mission is to “channel policies and plans to achieve a happier society”, and with the first of the Chief Happiness and Positivity Officers graduating just last week, we think they’re already off to a good start.
Here’s a little something to help you get in the mood.
