5 facts about rapper Example

Published

on

Electro-house rapper Example is in Dubai this weekend for the latest in a line of Nasimi Sessions. The singer, who launched himself at the top of UK charts with Changed the Way You Kissed Me, takes to the sand on Friday, May 1. Tickets are still available from Platinum List or on the door, and ladies get in free before 7pm.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go:

  1. The name Example comes from his initials. Born Elliot Gleave, this was later shortened to E.G – that’s the abbreviation of Example, in case you were wondering.
  2. He won his first rap battle at a house party in 1994. He was 12. But more importantly, what was he doing at a house party aged 12?
  3. He fancies himself a comic. In 2008, he performed a stand-up routine to 60 people, filmed by the BBC.
  4. He wants to direct horror films. After a stint presenting a documentary on ghosts in Ukraine (it’s almost the musical equivalent to Danny Dyer’s career), he vowed to make a move behind the camera one day.
  5. His wife is a knockout. He married Australian model, Erin McNaught, in 2012.
