7 things to do in Dubai this weekend

Aurie Styla
The famed British comedian has been giving the task of launching the city’s newest comedy night, Stand-Up Dubai. If you’re unfamiliar with his work, expect a show filled with “charisma” and “tongue-in-cheek banter”. The gig presented by Those Guys Events and Entertainment and Tribeca Bar & Kitchen will take place this Saturday and will be Styla’s first in the region.

Analog Room with Lawrence
This represents something of a coup for the organisers of Analog Room – whom we met in the last issue, of course. They have been trying to land Lawrence for the best part of two years and have finally managed to grab the German DJ, producer and remixer for a party next week. He has three minimal/techno albums to his name and also co-runs the Dial label out of Hamburg, Germany. He’ll be supported by Mehdi Ansari aka Shemroon. AED100 on the door, ladies free before 11pm.

Rixos Premium Dubai
The newly opened branch of the beloved Rixos hotel chain has just unveiled its brand new Friday lunch buffet that promises international cuisine with Turkish flavour. That said, guests can expect to devour everything from kebabs to sushi to pasta. There will be a ton of dessert options too – be sure to check out the live ice cream teppanyaki section.

Amit Tandon
The latest in a string of Indian stand-up comedians to come to Dubai this year, Amit has been described as India’s funniest man – and has sold out his previous shows at the same venue. His new show is called “Honestly Speaking” and contains all his familiar observational material.

Jekyll & Hyde
From just AED295, guests can feast on the very best dishes that the British gastro-pub has to offer.
