After a massive weekend launch party that saw the likes of former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand attend, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government, month long fitness initiative has officially begun.
To help you make the most of this initiative that aims to encourage Dubai residences to take part in 30 minutes of exercise a day, we’ve shortlisted eight activities that we think will help keep you active and fit.

It’s called military bootcamp for a reason, it’s hard. By hard we mean that you will have run, jump and crawl, all whilst holding back your tears to get to the finish line. JLT Run
It’s a 8km road race through the streets of Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The race is set to start at 3pm, and is expected to finish at around 5pm. While the course is 8km long, you are free to stop whenever you like – good, because we can only run 1km, 1.5km if we’re pushing it. The event’s start and finish line will be at JLT Park. And, once the race that supports breast cancer awareness research is done, you can take part in a number of group exercise classes and enjoy the live entertainment.
When: From 3pm, Friday, October 27

XDubai Spartan Race
Organised by Dubai Sports Council, this year’s race will take in Hatta for the very first time and will include over 70 obstacles. The race that is set to take place on November 10, aims to find “Spartan Warriors” among average residents. The annual race will once again feature three categories; Spartan Sprint, Spartan Beast, and Spartan Juniors. Aside from proving that they can compete in one of the toughest races known to man, “Spartan Elites” will be competing for cash prizes that range from US$5,000 to US$400 – depending on their race ranking. Just a quick warning, the race is not for the faint of heart and you need to sign a waiver – it’s that difficult.
