It’s not the first time our favourite building in the whole wide world will be lit up, but it’s definitely going to be another show worth checking out. Besides, if you’re anything like us…you’ll be excited every single time news about Burj Khalifa pops up.

The iconic building is hosting another light show – yes, only yesterday we told you about the two new LED shows at Burj Khalifa. This time, it’s to celebrate the Chinese New Year aka The Year of the Dog. The light and laser show will take place twice daily from February 16 to 24. For the best viewing opportunity, get to Downtown Dubai before 10pm.

If you’d rather celebrate with a sit down meal, we’ve got you covered too.

Behold our top five spots to celebrate Chinese New Year.

1. Hakkasan
The posh Cantonese restaurant at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, one of 12 worldwide, has crafted a menu especially for the occasion. The feast includes small bites such as crispy scallop in sweet plum sauce and Szechuan oyster, followed by mains that include baked Chilean sea bass, wok fried lobster and organic lamb in seaweed soy. No celebration is complete without a sweet treat, so expect to dig right into the golden fortune dessert with flavours of ginger caramel, lemongrass and roasted macademia. The menu is available for a minimum of two people.

Royal China
Though popular for its dim sums, this classy London import at DIFC will welcome the New Year with a special à la carte menu that will be available from February 15 to 21. Think mixed seafood that’s served in a bird’s nest, steamed shrimps and the venue’s signature traditional hot pot that’s served in portions made for sharing. Leave some space for dessert as they have several options that include the likes of baked sesame pastry, sweet rose lychee pudding and pan fried sticky rice.

Long Teng
The casual Business Bay eatery is home to perhaps some of the most authentic Chinese cuisine in town. Spread over three floors, the restaurant prides itself on its seafood selection that includes moreish dishes like deep fried lobster, sautéed cod and grilled king scallops. However, it’s the dim sum that always steals our attention. Not only flavourful, they come in shapes that deserve a space on your Instagram feed. The CNY offer is pretty straight forward (sort of), book your dinner table on February 15 and along with delicious food, they promise you a packet full of surprises. Just have to book to find it what they are.

The Noodle House
The popular Asian restaurant will be serving up special dishes until February 23 to celebrate the New Year. Should you book, you’re in for Asian lettuce wraps, Lanzhou beef noodle soup or the tangerine beef . You can pair these with the other good stuff the establishment is known for like its Singaporean noodles, wasabi prawns and crispy roast duck.

Shang Palace
Shangri-La’s signature restaurant is putting up a feast fit for a king this Chinese New Year. Guests can choose from one of four ten-course (yes, you read right) menus, priced at AED258 per person, that have been designed for the occasion. That’s not all. The team are also transforming the venue to create a fitting ambience – expect lanterns and Chinese music between February 15 to 22. And if you happen to swing by the hotel on February 16, you’ll witness the traditional lion dance in the lobby area.
