The weekend has unfortunately been and gone, and now it's time to get back to work. We've shortlisted 12 great activities to help you ease back into the swing of things. Suzanne Vega will be performing at Dubai Opera, there's an all-female comedy line-up at The Hive and an action packed racing event taking place at Dubai Autodrome.

Suzanne Vega

With over 30 years of experience to her name, Vega is sure to put on quite the show when she takes the Dubai Opera stage in what will be her first ever gig in the region. Fans can expect the seven time Grammy nominated singer to belt out a slew of classics that include the likes of “Tom’s Diner”, “Marlene On The Wall” and “Luka”. If you haven’t heard of her yet, check her out now – she is one of the founding members of folk music after all. Tickets start at AED95 and the show starts at 8pm sharp. We recommend getting there a bit earlier so that you can take in the magic that is The Dubai Opera and maybe even have a drink before the now 52-year-old takes you on a journey down memory lane.

Nothing says “I’ve been to Dubai” more than a snap of you high above The Palm, Jumeirah. It’s the done thing to do when you’re here and will leave you with memories for a lifetime. Obviously, jumping out of a plane isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s certainly an experience like no other. There’s no need to fear plummeting to earth like a dart, thanks to the professional skydivers that you’ll tandem dive with. Dropping in over the aforementioned backdrop of The Palm will set you back AED2,199, but if you fancy a more tranquil setting, you can touch down in the desert for AED1,699. And don’t worry about trying to capture the moment on your smartphone as part of the fee, a videographer will take snaps and clips of the whole stomach churning event.

Brunch in Dubai - Candypants

To say Candypants is a lively brunch would be a complete understatement. Tables are topped with inflatable toys, flags and fancy dress accessories. There’s a DJ booth in one corner pumping out some upbeat chart stuff and party classics, and a buffet that looks alarmingly small in another. People aren’t really here for the food though, the real show-stoppers are the drinks and mixed beverages that come in a variety of colours, decorated with sparklers, dry ice, umbrella things and the like. The crowd are impeccably dressed and raring to go, so arrive ready to party.

The Amityville Horror on Netflix

The Amityville Horror

Don’t be so quick to jump on the ‘oh it’s only a remake’ bandwagon. Sure, the ‘79 original starring screen queen Margot Kidder can still reduce us to nervous wrecks, but this 2005 retelling of the true story of a demon-riddled house with a murderous history is a killer remake, especially Ryan Reynolds’ decent into darkness.

Mary Shelly

Elle Fanning stars in this biopic about the famous author’s life. It follows her relationship with Percy Bysshe Shelley and how it inspired her to write Frankenstein.
