14 great things to do in Dubai this weekend
The weekend is finally here and to help you celebrate the next 48 hours in style, we've shortlisted 14 great activities. Suzanne Vega is in town, there's a great party brunch on at Garden and tons of great bars and restaurants to check out.
With over 30 years of experience to her name, Vega is sure to put on quite the show when she takes the Dubai Opera stage in what will be her first ever gig in the region. Fans can expect the seven time Grammy nominated singer to belt out a slew of classics that include the likes of “Tom’s Diner”, “Marlene On The Wall” and “Luka”. If you haven’t heard of her yet, check her out now – she is one of the founding members of folk music after all. Tickets start at AED95 and the show starts at 8pm sharp. We recommend getting there a bit earlier so that you can take in the magic that is The Dubai Opera and maybe even have a drink before the now 52-year-old takes you on a journey down memory lane.

It’s a hybrid sport that – yes, you guessed it – combines football and golf, and it’s actually great. Instead of lugging a golf bag around the course, you simply carry your football. Then from wherever it lays, you launch it towards the over-sized cup, majestically, like a Paul Pogba cross-field pass.
Although you can wander round solo, Footgolf, like almost everything in life – apart from reading a book – is better with mates. It also gives you a workout as you punt the ball and walk between holes. And the carpet like greens and fairways of the course is like the ultimate playing surface for striking a football.

This trendy spot combines bowling, bar sports and live sport with a gentleman’s club vibe. Serving something of a niche in the city, its two bowling lanes obviously dominate – not only in their central location in the bar, but also the sheer volume of it. There’s also a couple of dart boards and two decent pool tables and outside there’s a sizable terrace, should the macho beating of chests all get a bit too much. When you’re not playing to the death, the vibe is laid-back and the bar itself is sprawling.

This is an ideal destination for impressing visitors or just for a swanky night out with your mates. The rooftop bar is set high on the 40th floor of The H Dubai, with an upbeat vibe and a definite wow-factor. The music is loud and varying and it’s a bar you can come to for a pre-dinner drink, or to dance the night away if you prefer. There’s an enchanted forest feel to the place – lent by high walls adorned with faux foliage, and along with the low lighting and pumping music it has a trendy, exclusive (yet not unwelcoming) feel.
