There’s a sweet (and savoury) challenge taking place at Eggspectation this July. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Canadian restaurant is challenging guests to take on its 25-stack – one for each year they’ve been going, obviously – of pancakes. Take the tower down in 25 minutes or less and you’ll get a voucher for a discount on your next meal. If you fail, then you hand over AED98. To make it slightly easier, you can take three friends with you to help out. Just be sure to go hungry.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout
For the sixth entry in the espionage franchise, Ethan Hunt finds himself having to outwit assassins (including Henry Cavill’s burly, bruising August Walker) after a failed IMF mission leads to the escape of a new bad guy, Solomon Lane (Sean Harris). While the plot is predictable, the set-pieces scintillate once again. And let’s be honest, this is the reason you’re buying a ticket to see it anyway. Whether it’s a blistering rooftop chases across London, a high-octane HALO jump, or that whirlybird chase, director Christopher McQuarrie frames the action with breathless panache. Even at 56, Cruise serves up exhilarating action like no-one else. If you want more bang for your buck, book your ticket online for a screening at Reel Cinemas' branch in Jebel ali Recreation Centre.
