6 great things to do in Dubai this week

Hollywood horror show
In case you hadn’t noticed, Halloween is over but that doesn't mean the celebrations are over. Rather than switch all of the lights off and pretend that you’re not home when the trick or treaters come knocking, why not head to the QE2 for a weekend of terror. The Hollywood Horror Show turns the grand vessel into a terrifying ghost ship that’s full of live dance acts and DJ spinning the tunes. From AED595 you can help yourself to a feast and the free-flowing beverages while taking in the freaky delights happening all around you.  Fancy dress is mandatory, so it’s time to dust off that Michael Myer’s outfit you’ve had since last year. Brilliantly, there will be a Halloween brunch for all the family on both days, too.
When: November 1-2
Where: QE2

Enter Macbeth
Don’t buy tickets for this expecting sombre theatrics in Middle English. Enter Macbeth is a comic take on some of William Shakespeare’s (he’s a pretty good playwright, if you were wondering) most famed works. But this time around the protagonist is an Arabic Macbeth with Harry Potter’s Voldermort and Star Wars’ Darth Vader as sidekicks. Tickets start at AED80 and parts of the profits goes to local charities.

Defected at soho beach
You might think it a spooky stunt, but wearing a mask is kind of German DJ and EDM producer Claptone’s thing. And that’s exactly what he’ll be doing to keep his identity a secret (oh, the mystery) as he takes to stage at Soho Beach this weekend to present the all day rave created by British house music label Defected. Nab yourself a spot for the noon to midnight event for just AED150.

Tri fest 2018
Lest we forget the Dubai Fitness Challenge is upon us. If you fancy dedicating the early hours of Friday morning to getting in your daily 30 minutes (and then some) head down from 5am for a 6.20am start to tackle the trio of swimming, running and cycling. There are three different levels of triathlon as well as two races for the little ones. Prices vary so check the website for more details.

Morcheeba
The British trip-hop pioneers are back with a new album “Blaze Away,” and are taking to Dubai Opera to celebrate. Long time fans of the duo comprising of the charismatic front woman Skye Edward and the psychedelic guitarist Ross Godfrey need not worry as the duo are promising a setlist that will weave in their old favourites such as The Sea with the newer stuff. Tickets for the one night event will start at AED150.
