Tom Odell to perform on Dubai’s Bluewaters island
If you’re looking for a midweek night out, you can’t go wrong with tickets to see acclaimed British performer Tom Odell this Tuesday. The award-winning singer-songwriter is currently in the middle of a global tour and will be in Dubai for one-night-only on March 12.
The 28-year-old will be performing his most popular hits along with songs from his new album, Jubilee Road. An alumnus of the UK’s BIMM music school, Ordell first rose to fame fresh from college in 2012 when he performed his breakout hit ‘Another Love’ on the legendary music show Later…With Jools Holland. A few months later, he went on to become the first-ever male winner of the coveted Critics Choice Award at the Brits (previous winners have included Adele and Ellie Goulding).
Interestingly enough, a solo career wasn’t Odell’s first choice. Prior to going it alone, he was the lead singer of little-known band Tom and the Tides and they recorded a song called ‘Spider’ for the BIMM album What’s Inside Your Head (Vol.3) in 2009.
Shortly after, Odell decided to separate from the band and started working on his own material, finding success two years later on the Jools Holland show. His music style is often described as indie-pop meets folk, although you’re just as likely to hear his music being played at dance festivals as you are on The Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury, as several of his songs have been remixed with dance tracks. It’s the singer’s first time performing in Dubai, and he will take to the stage at one of the city’s newest live venues -– The Rotunda at Caesars Bluewaters Dubai. There are still a few tickets left for the show, but if you fancy attending the gig, be sure to get one soon, as they’re likely to sell out.
When: Tuesday March 12, doors open at 7pm, show starts at 9pm
Where: The Rotunda at Caesars Bluewaters Dubai
