Dubai Opera having a “musical medley” weekend

If you can’t get enough of musicals that will have your feet tapping, you’re in for a treat this weekend at Dubai Opera.

Not only is there the high-energy, rock ‘n’ roll show, Footloose The Musical taking place, fans can also see some of the very best songs from famed musicals in Where Stars Are Born.

Already interested? Tickets to each of the shows are priced at AED175, and you can book yourself in by visiting dubaiopera.com.

Be prepared to get footloose and fancy free on Friday June 28 at 7.30pm, and Saturday 29 at 6.30pm, as Dubai Performing Arts (DPA) Youth Theatre Company will have two performances to enjoy.

Promising to have you singing and dancing in your seats, the exciting production of Footloose will bring exhilarating choreography, and will feature the show’s unforgettable soundtrack that includes well-loved hits such as Let’s Hear It For The Boy and Holding Out For A Hero, as well as the title track.

“DPA’s Creative Director and Choreographer Johnny Shentall-Lee performed in the original West End cast of Footloose, so we thought it was very fitting to give our talented students the opportunity to perform the smash hit musical at the prestigious Dubai Opera”, said Principal of DPA, Lisa Scott-Lee.

“Our students have loved having masterclasses with Johnny whilst learning all the famous dance moves to the hit songs, such as Holding Out For A Hero and Let’s Hear It For The Boy! It will be one not to miss.”

The DPA Academy will also be putting on Where Stars Are Born for one afternoon only on Saturday June 29 at 2.30pm, so make sure you get your tickets while you can.

Prepare to experience live singing, dancing, drama and musical theatre from talented young performers, featuring hits from the very best classical musicals of all time such as Mamma Mia, Chorus Line, Hairspray, Rock of Ages and Mary Poppins.
