Dubai Weekend ShortList

If you’re ready for a big weekend, you’re in luck. With a brunch hosting 600 people, an international comedian and some brand new club nights, you’re going to need all your energy. Game face on, let’s do this.

Club Nights

The clubs are back in business. It’s going to be a tough weekend keeping up with this lot, but with opening parties, closing parties and a guest appearance from one of London’s top DJs, we can give it a try. Cirque Le Soir, Toy Room, Zero Gravity and Movida are just a few of the options that will have you partying until the early hours.

Heckles at the ready, Dubai’s comedy season has officially started. With two shows courtesy of Max Amini, who is a big name on the international comedy circuit, and a fantastic line-up of UAE acts, there’s plenty of laughter to be had. Thursday kicks things off with The Laughter Factory, while Friday brings famous American-Iranian comic Max Amini.

When a new venue opens it’s not long until the new brunch follows. For places like La Residence, that means a low key Saturday affair. However, some of the city’s hardened favourites are adding brunches to their repertoire, and there’s nothing low key about them. With a “mega brunch”, a “house party” and a show-stopping theatre brunch, there’s plenty to please even the most jaded bruncher.

Cinema – Minions

The loveable, dim-witted yellow things of indeterminate species who stole the show in the Despicable Me films. Pierre Coffin does the voices, while a cast list of Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm do the others. Don’t fight it, you know you’re going to go – and love it.

Interlocking Harmonies Art Exhibition

For a low-key Saturday, visit Cube Arts Creative’s current showcase, which blends Arabian and Chinese art. The medley of Near and Far East is a cultural exchange with Moge Gallery in Shangai. Visit here for our Art ShortLister’s exhibition review.
