Dubai Music Week 2015: Headliners confirmed
Dubai Music Week has annouced its headline acts for 2015 with British singer Ellie Goulding performing on Thursday, September 24, while the Jared Leto-fronted American rockers 30 Seconds to Mars will be playing the following night – making up for the late cancellation of their show in April.
Ellie Goulding has become a mainstay of commercial radio since her 2012 breakout single "Anything Could Happen", which was taken from her second album Halcyon, and has since achieved aural ubiquity by providing the vocals for any number of DJs and producers. Her own song "Burn" was 2013's earworm, while she has now racked up three Calvin Harris collaborations, "I Need Your Love" perhaps being the most famous.
She has also contributed songs to pretty much every angsty young adult movie of the last five years, from Twilight to Hunger Games: Catching Fire to both films in the Divergent series. Here's her song "Love Me Like You Do" from 50 Shades of Grey:
30 Seconds To Mars might be best known for their Oscar-winning frontman Jared Leto, but they have managed to shift well in excess of 15 million albums worldwide with their powerful, anthemic rock. They have released four studio albums, 30 Seconds to Mars, A Beautiful Lie and To the Edge of the Earth and 2012's Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams. "From Yesterday" from 2005 won Kerrang! magazine's best single of the year.
Hosted by the Dubai World Trade Centre between September 23 and 26, Dubai Music Week offers live music from international acts, celebrity guest speakers, master classes and an interactive entertainment village – and is becoming the traditional way to kick-start the post-summer entertainment season in Dubai.
Tickets are due to go on sale in August.
