6 things to do in Dubai this week

Who says the weekend is over? It’s Sunday and we’re just getting started. We’ve got two dinner parties to attend, a classic film screening along with organic hot dogs, and a pillow fight hosted by two massive DJs – dressed as a banana. Allow us to explain…

Sunday L.O.V.E at OKKU – Sunday
Sunday nights are famous at this award-winning Japanese restaurant. Expect sharing plates packed full of sushi, sashimi and plenty of meat options for those less keen on seafood. It’s a party atmosphere, with Rafael Becker and Geo behind the decks for a stylish evening of music, cocktails and seriously good food.

Alice at The Act – Tuesday & Wednesday
Follow Alice down the rabbit hole with The Act’s unique dinner show. The Peruvian-style supper club is entertaining guests with a curious show in the depths of Wonderland. Favourite characters The Cheshire Cat, The White Rabbit and the infamous The Mad Hatter will guide you through a boisterous evening of dance and lively performances. AED495 for a three course menu and house beverages.

Cinema – No Escape
The film tells the story of Jack (Owen Wilson), an American man who finds work in Southeast Asia and decides to relocate his family. From the start, there are problems. The streets are strangely quiet, and tension fills the air. When he sees rebels executing foreigners, he and his family (helped by Pierce Brosnan) try to find the nearest American embassy in order to escape.

The Scene Happy Hour
One of Pier 7’s favourite haunts, The Scene gets our thumbs up for being both affordable at atmospheric. The so-called ‘nocturnal’ happy hour is on every single night from 12am until 2am. The deal covers a huge selection of drinks, making it a popular evening hangout for Marina residents.

Dada Life at Armani/Privé – Thursday
