UAE announce 5-day holiday

New reports suggest that some UAE residents will have five days holiday from Tuesday December 1 to Saturday December 5, according to Emarat Al Youm. These dates combine UAE Martyr’s Day and National day, and will see ministries and federal authorities closed for five days.

The holiday includes the weekend, so this will mean three days off for many office workers in the public sector, with work resuming on Sunday December 6.

Emirates 24/7 said that The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered Martyr’s Day to fall on November 30, which will mean that the holiday is observed on Tuesday December 1.

As for private sector employees, holiday dates haven’t been confirmed yet. We know that Martyr’s Day falls on Monday November 30 and National Day will be on Wednesday December 2.
