20th Century Fox to launch Dubai theme park
The theme park news just keeps coming, as Dubai unveils more plans to be an entertainment capital of the world. 20th Century Fox World is the latest theme park to announce plans to open in Dubai, bringing another batch of Hollywood themed rides.
The movie giant will team up with Al Ahli Holding Group to construct the 75-acre park, which is expected to cost around $850 million and feature attractions based on Ice Age, The Simpsons, Planet of the Apes, Titanic and Night at the Museum. Reports claim that it will be built on the site of Dubai Outlet Mall.
Although full details are still yet to be released, we know that the park will contain the world’s first Fox hotel, which is said to be immersed within the park, giving guests an exclusive experience. Insiders predict that 20th Century Fox World could attract around three million visitors in its first year of opening.
However, it will have stiff competition from theme parks already under construction. Dubai Parks and Resorts which is being built in Jebel Ali, and IMG World Of Adventures which will open on Emirates Road, have been drip-feeding information about their special attractions and rides.
Dubai Parks and Resorts is a collaboration between DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate, so you can expect films like The Hunger Games, Ghostbusters, Zombieland and Shrek. Attractions include rollercoasters, multimedia theatre and a massive water ride which will use 793,000 gallons of water. Motiongate, which is one of the brands within the park, will be packed full of movie-themed rides. General Manager of Motiongate, Guido Zucchi, said of the park: “It’s going to be like Hollywood in the desert.”
The news that 20th Century Fox World is set to open means that there may be heavy competition for that title.
