Every year, the fireworks at the Burj Khalifa are watched by hundreds of thousands, both in real life and on viral Your Tube videos. If there’s one thing that Dubai knows how to do, it’s put on a good light show. This year, to ring in 2016, Downtown Dubai are promising to give spectators a little bit of magic.

With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, the team behind the Burj Khalifa fireworks have decided to show you what they’ve been up to for the last six months. 100 firework technicians have worked through 1.6 tons of active material, 70 km of network cables and 357,000 LED nodes to set up the display. There are 409 shooting points, from which the spectacular show will take place.

All of this took around two months for the team to set up, so when you look up at the sky at 12am in awe, you’ve got a few extra reasons to be impressed.
