Ever wondered how many rich people there are in Dubai? A lot is the answer. According to the latest global New World Wealth report, published this week, Dubai has a staggering 42,000 millionaires living in the city.

To be even more precise, 2,000 more millionaires came to the city in 2015. According to the report, that makes Dubai the joint 4th best place for the highest number of new millionaires gained last year.

Topping the list is Sydney which saw 4,000 millionaires last year (out of a total of 95,400) and Melbourne with 3,000 (from a total of 66,800).

Where did they call come from? The majority, it seems, came from Turkey and North Africa – including Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.

That’s a lot of rich people. Dubai’s richest family (excluding royals) is thought to be the Al Ghurair family, worth around $8bn, followed by Majid Al Futtaim on $5bn.
