6 things to do in Dubai this weekend

Ten Street
This brand new “late night party spot” in JBR stays true to Dubai’s “something for everyone” promise. It’s open until 3am every night with resident DJs pumping out ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s hits, and occasionally screening sporting events, with the boon of ten pool tables and private karaoke rooms. The interiors are inspired by the New York subway, but the food is Canadian themed – finger-lickin’ smoked BBQ ribs, bagel burgers (held together with a knife, grrr) and loaded sharing platters. The menu is to be refreshed every ten weeks to reflect changing trends. Expect nightly surprises too, like the Red Light Rush, offering discounted drinks, and a spin of the Lucky Wheel on arrival may bag you a prize.

Ladies Night VIP Room
Ladies nights at the weekend are like unicorns – you hear people talk about them but often wonder if they’re really true. Enter VIP Room, which brings “Talk To My Agent” to the city this Friday night. Ladies get free drinks all night while the in-house photographer snaps pictures of the crowd to find the next #VIPface.

Spice & Ice Brunch
The modern Indian restaurant has recently launched an a la carte brunch. Appetisers, mains and a desert platter is served from the live cooking stations along with unlimited house beverages. Expect the lives of paneer makhani, lamb masala and butter chicken. AED199 per person.

The Late, Late Brunch
A brunch tailored to our needs! For a start the playlist comes courtesy of indie rock night Loaded. The incredible food and drinks menu also helps, as do the myriad arcade games. Another pull is the fact it’s only AED250 for an open bar and two courses. It runs on Friday from 2-5pm on the pub side of Stereo Arcade, and this month singer Jeremy Lawrence will be performing a range of rock and indie classics.

Cinema – The Conjuring 2 (18)
The Conjuring was credited with reinvigorating the horror genre when it was released in 2013, harvesting nearly $320 million in revenues from a budget of just $20 million. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are back as the Mulder and Scully of the paranormal world, where they investigate the creepy goings on in a house in Enfield, England. Already harvesting positive reviews in the US, this offers old-school scares galore.
In cinemas from July 21
