Thor: Ragnarok (15)
In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is cataclysmic rebirthing in which the world is flooded and only two human survivors emerge. It also spells the end for Thor and his brother Loki. That, in essence, tells you all you need to know about the third instalment of Marvel Studio’s Thor franchise, which again sees Chris Hemsworth don the cape, grab the hammer and frown his way through a number of unlikely action sequences. Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum and Tom Hiddleston also star.

Suburbicon
Matt Damon, Oscar Isaac and Julianne Moore star in this thriller set in 1950s America, where a supposedly idyllic suburb hides some violent undercurrents.

Only The Brave
Another great cast – Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges – take the lead in this actioner about elite firefighters who try to combat a wildfire. Based on a true story.
In cinemas from November 2

Ittefaq
Crime thriller in which a detective investigates a murder that only has two eye-witnesses. They both paint credible but wildly different versions of the event. Who’s right?
