It's official: Andrew Lincoln is leaving ‘The Walking Dead’
After eight long years of being chased by zombies, Andrew Lincoln is finally ready to move on from the infamous The Walking Dead series.
We know what you’re thinking… “WHAT?! He can’t leave!!” soz guys, but apparently he is.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lincoln will continue his role as Sheriff Rick Grimes but will only star in six of the nine episodes of season 9, before being phased out…
We wonder what will happen. Will a zombie finally get him? Will he trip and meet his untimely demise? Will he wonder off and never come back? SOMEONE TELL US, please.
While we eagerly wait for spoilers (we’ve never been the most patient bunch), rumour has it that Norman Reedus (Daryl) will be stepping in as the show’s lead – he’s reportedly in the middle of a US$20 million negotiation deal. Should be interesting.
The change ties in perfectly with what former showrunner Scott M. Gimple said not so long ago. “We knew for a long time that season [eight] was, in many ways, the end of a chapter of the show. The differences that people will be seeing in season nine and beyond are going to be pronounced. It’s going to be a very different show with characters handling very different issues, challenges and threats than we’ve seen before. These characters will be different in a lot of ways.”
What he’s saying is Grimes is going to die, right? We think so.
