Just because one of the biggest shows of the last eight years has come to an end it doesn’t mean the talent behind it disappears.

Writer and producer of Game of Thrones Bryan Cogman has now joined the team behind Amazon’s hugely-anticipated Lord of the Rings series. Seeing how successful GoT was, we think LOTR is in good hands.

Cogman will play a big part in the writing team, which now consists of JD Payne (behind Star Trek Beyond) and Patrick McKay (from the upcoming Flash Gordon remake).

The whopping $1 billion series is slated to begin filming by August at the earliest this year, and we can expect it to finally be aired sometime in 2021.

Not a lot has been revealed about the show, but the official LOTR Amazon twitter account did put out a tweet that has us thinking of possibilities…

Intriguing stuff.

That’s part of the inscription from Sauron’s One Ring, which means the series could take place during the making of The Ring. So, a prequel? We hope so.

All we can do is speculate, but in the meantime, there are plenty of other shows to get excited about this year, including Westworld season three and many more from HBO.

There’s also everything from Stranger Things season three and the brand-new Star Wars show from Disney.

If we wish hard enough, maybe it won’t turn out like The Hobbit trilogy. We’re counting on you, Bryan Cogman.
